Hormones : They Affect More Than You Think

Why Hormones Matter

When most people hear the word “hormones,” they think about menopause or testosterone for building muscle. But hormones affect so much more than that. They influence our energy, sleep, mood, motivation, focus, metabolism, strength, and overall quality of life.

Hormones can affect both men and women at many different stages of life. I see so many patients in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond who simply do not feel like themselves anymore, but cannot quite figure out why. Sometimes hormones are part of the picture. Sometimes thyroid health, stress, poor sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, or metabolic health are contributing as well. Most of the time, it is not just one thing.

“Normal” Labs Don’t Always Mean You Feel Well

One of the most common things I hear from patients is:

“My labs were normal, but I still don’t feel well.”

Many people continue struggling with fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, poor sleep, low motivation, weight changes, low libido, decreased strength, or just feeling “off,” despite being told everything looks normal.

The reality is, many appointments in traditional healthcare are simply too short to fully explore symptoms, lifestyle, stress, sleep, nutrition, and long-term health goals. Sometimes only a limited number of labs are checked, and patients are left feeling unheard, dismissed, or frustrated because they know something still does not feel right.

Of course, not every symptom is hormone-related, and medications are not always the answer. Mental health, stress, sleep, nutrition, movement, and overall lifestyle play a huge role in how we feel physically and mentally. But I also believe patients deserve a more comprehensive and individualized approach when symptoms continue impacting their daily life.

A More Personalized Approach to Wellness

One of the biggest reasons I created Highline Health is because I wanted to practice healthcare differently.

I became frustrated with how rushed healthcare has become. So much of the system is focused on patient volume, short visits, insurance limitations, and quick fixes rather than truly listening to patients and understanding the bigger picture of their health.

I wanted to create a space where patients feel heard, supported, educated, and comfortable asking questions! I want healthcare to feel collaborative, not rushed or one-size-fits-all. Every patient has different symptoms, stressors, goals, lifestyles, and health histories, which is why individualized care matters.

While medications can absolutely be helpful and sometimes medically necessary, they are only one piece of the picture. Nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, supplementation, and sustainable lifestyle habits often play an equally important role in improving long-term wellness. My goal is to help guide patients in these areas while creating realistic, individualized plans that fit their goals and lifestyle. In many cases, the best outcomes come from combining both appropriate medical treatment and healthy lifestyle changes.

At Highline Health, the focus is not simply temporary symptom relief. My goal is to help patients build long-term health, resilience, vitality, and confidence in their bodies again — so they can truly feel their best.
